The July updates of JAWS, ZoomText, and Fusion are here! No matter which product you use, you will benefit from our exciting new additions and enhancements. Here are several examples.

Quick Nav Keys in Outlook

Since the May software updates, some users reported periodic instances where Quick Nav Keys were automatically turned on in Outlook when trying to reply to messages. Since these keys enable navigation in a message by pressing certain letters like H for headings or T for tables, users had to turn off Quick Nav Keys before typing. Otherwise, they would accidentally navigate within a message rather than typing the email. This issue is resolved in the July update.

Blog Posts in WordPress with JAWS

During the last few months, JAWS users were unable to create and edit blog posts in WordPress 5.6 or later. This issue has been resolved, and it is now possible to navigate, read, and edit text using JAWS when in a post.

Different JAWS Keystroke for Navigating in Outlook

The JAWS keystroke for navigating to the body of a message or notes area of a Calendar appointment in Outlook is now ALT+INSERT+GRAVE ACCENT (`). The new keystroke is updated in JAWS Command Search, which you can access by pressing INSERT+SPACEBAR, J.

The previous keystroke, ALT+GRAVE ACCENT, is no longer available because Microsoft began using it to activate their email dictation feature.

Changed JAWS Keystroke in Google Docs

You can use Quick Keys with JAWS in Google Docs by activating a layered command. This command was previously INSERT+SPACEBAR, Q, but has been changed to INSERT+SPACEBAR, G.

When this layer is active, you can navigate to specific elements in a document. For example, press H to navigate by heading, T for table, C for comments, etc. While in Google Docs, access a full list of commands by pressing INSERT+SPACEBAR, G, then QUESTION MARK.

JAWS Support for the NLS Braille eReader

The July updates include JAWS support for the NLS Braille eReader by Zoomax, which is available from the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled at the Library of Congress. A system driver must be installed before you can use this display. You can obtain this driver from Zoomax.

New Functionality in the Quick Access Bar of ZoomText and Fusion

You can now dock the Quick Access Bar in ZoomText and Fusion to any of the four corners of your screen. This makes it easy to find when you lose focus or are viewing magnified screen content.

Also, you can temporarily pin the Quick Access Bar to the current location of the mouse pointer. It remains in this location until you unpin it, move it, or close ZoomText or Fusion.

A maximum of eight shortcuts can be placed on the Quick Access Bar. You can remove the default shortcuts or replace them with others for further customization. The July software updates enable you to restore these shortcuts to the factory defaults.
