If you are someone who loves open-source or is just getting started with it, Hacktoberfest is for you! 🎉
What is Hacktoberfest?
Hacktoberfest is an annual event hosted by DigitalOcean that aims to encourage developers to contribute to open-source projects and give back to the community.
Register at: https://hacktoberfest.digitalocean.com/ by just clicking on Start Hacking!
How can I participate?
Contributions are done by submitting a pull request to any repository that is participating in Hacktoberfest. Once your pull request is accepted, it will count into your participation in Hacktoberfest.
To successfully participate in Hacktoberfest, you will need to submit at least 4 accepted pull requests to any repositories that are participating in Hacktoberfest (Seems pretty fun, right?)
Once Hacktoberfest is over, which is at the end of October, the first 55,000 participants to have submitted at least 4 accepted pull requests will receive a t-shirt with a swag pack.
You can participate as a maintainer or participant! Know more about the rules and roles here: https://hacktoberfest.digitalocean.com/
🤔 How do I find repositories to contribute to?
Don't panic! Look for repositories with the hacktoberfest label and issues with the hacktoberfest tag.
I recently started building a UI Component Library for React called Chic UI - https://github.com/karishmashuklaa/chic-ui 🚀
You can contribute to Chic and get started with Hacktoberfest! As I have just started building it, there are tons and tons of components that can be added! Hey you, let's build it together!
Look at Hacktoberfest as an opportunity to learn more about open-source, collaboration, and lots of fun! 💅
Overcome your anxiety of contributing to open-source! 💪
Also, if any of your repositories will be participating in Hacktoberfest, drop it in the comments ✌
All the best! Keep hacking 😎
