Hey!
So I started this new job on Oct. 3rd. So far, I like it a lot. I've been hired as a Frontend Developer. The business is a Data Visualization company where we build interactive visual support for data-heavy company.
My first project was to build a One Pager for a State Fair like event. I did it and they were impressed by the result given the time I spent on it. I want to keep this going..
The team consists of 5 people:
1 Backend Dev - External (knows 'nothing' of frontend according to him)
1 Backend Dev - Internal (knows just enough frontend)
1.5 Frontend Dev - The 0.5 is a part-time employee (I'm the 'main' frontend guy)
1 CEO - Not a dev.
I've been told by the CEO that he'd like me to become the 'main' frontend dev of the team. However the CEO and the 'main' backend guy are going on vacation. So i'm left alone, on my 2nd week, with legit NO TASKS other than 'get comfortable with project X,Y,Z' which I already did during the first week..
Is there something I could build, make, rework to show them I'm worth it ? I also don't want them to think I haven't done much in those 2 weeks..
Edit: the 2-3 guys left with me for these weeks are external workers. Meaning they work with us but on ONE project in which I do not work on yet. So there is no one to ask.
Edit2: So I just finished my work day. I've read through the comments and I think that the best suggestions were :
make a reusable template
learn some backend
fiddle with the code and see where bugs are hiding, etc
Thank you all so much
