Best of Level Up Coding (March 2022)

🇺🇦 Keep holding strong Ukraine. If there is anything our small team of programmers at Level Up can do to help in any way, let us know.

Bombing tech interviews, blockchain, landing jobs, starting to code in your 40’s, and plenty of JavaScript/Python/DevOps/C# — we’re back with another huge list of incredible articles that you can’t miss.

Monthly community update: The most requested feature for the community, by far, is help with jobs. Developers want awesome jobs, and companies want kickass developers. Luckily we have plenty of both in the Level Up community, and we’re excited to announce we’re launching the Level Up jobs platform. Visit https://jobs.levelup.dev or check out our featured company.

Role of the Month: Backend Software Engineer at Empower
"Empower is solving access to credit for the 100 million Americans who lack fair credit access. We're backed with $60m+ from investors such as Sequoia"

💰 Company of the Month: Empower

Empower is a high-growth, globally remote fintech startup on a mission to meaningfully improve the financial health and wellbeing of today’s generation. The company is picking up speed and on the cusp of something big. They’re adding several thousand new customers to their community every day, and have raised over $25 million from top venture capital firms, including Sequoia Capital, Initialized Capital, and Icon Ventures, as well as David Velez, Founder, and CEO of Nubank.

To Keep up with the growth, Empower is looking to bring on several Backend Server Software Engineers, to work on the engine that powers their apps and business. You’ll engage with a collaborative, high-powered team to develop solutions and lead product engineering on projects with a reach of millions. The solutions you’ll build will be robust, secure, and easy to understand both for our users and your engineering peers. You’ll take end-to-end ownership of new features and product lines shaping work in the early stages, building, deploying, and running post-deployment analysis to ensure we’re hitting our goals.

Some of the skills you’ll need to make this happen:

  • Bachelor’s degree or greater in Computer Science, Software
  • Engineering or a related subject
  • 3+ years developing web APIs within .NET (C#)
  • Working experience with ORMs such as Entity Framework
  • Working experience constructing and optimizing RDMS queries
  • Working experience within the asynchronous programming model
