There's an option available in Ubuntu or in Gnome. A package called Gnome Tweak Tool provides us with an option to select how windows are focused. The option Focus on Hover
allows us to move the focus with the mouse pointer.
There's a nice little tool in windows too for this. Once installed and activated it makes the mouse pointer focus on hover.
