Somehow you guys did it you made me feel famous, raised my self esteem from the floor and pushed me through job interviews granting me charm and charisma.
I have been learning how to behave around other humans what to say and how to say it and it's all down to technical writing and your amazing following.
If you dont know me so well, here's a few things I have never told anyone on here.
- I was born into a sad kind of world, taken from my parents at just a few months old and placed into foster care, my mother suffered/s from phycosis and a bad dress sense
- I always felt like an alien kid and perhaps I would never amount to much after all that's what the statistics said, but I never ever give up, I wanted to be the best at something
- at 18 I had to leave and find a place to live, I fell into University studying art because it was a kind of therapy, I learned graphic design and wrote a portfolio website or two but for paintings not code
- I met my girlfriend that year who is now the mother of my child
- after university, times where tough, I started a business and ran it for 3.5 years making websites for local government and small businesses, it kept us afloat most of the time
- After a while I decided that I needed a stable job, the baby was coming! I asked on linkedin the most senior person I could find in Dyson IT, he said come on in and have an interview (ask for stuff, it's important!)
- After a successful few years at Dyson I landed here in my absolutely favourite position being kind of a developer. I see more stacks than most will ever see and I get to professionaly tell you how it can improve and what security flaws I find.
- my son is Autistic and partially verbal, he will have a very different life than me and I worry what will happen to him when I'm gone, I had a successful life from nothing, now he's setup in a lovely home, he is so loved but he hasn't got a choice like me to be more, he is exactly who he is, that should not scare me but it does.
So that's me right now, thank you all so much and I will continue to try to think of stuff you want to hear about! We grow together đź’—
