Spring is here, and you know what that means – it’s time for another jam! Once again GameMaker and Opera GX join forces, also partnering up with Gamemusic, to bring you the craziest and most unique challenge yet – the Browser Mod Jam! Use your creativity to completely transform Opera GX into the browser of your dreams.

Theme Revealed – May 10th, 2023

Submissions Open – May 23rd, 2023

Submissions Close – May 26th, 2023

Winner Announcement – June 9th, 2023

Show us what you can do – express yourself! Remember, mod submissions open on May 23rd! 

GX MODS

GX Mods let you completely transform Opera GX, combining totally unique looks, sounds and shaders to create themes for different interests and moods. You can cycle through our pre-made Mods to start with, build on them, or make your own from scratch—it’s your call. Choose your own adventure!

Participants in the jam will be able to compete in four separate mod categories:

  • Shaders – visual effects applied to the entire browser screen
  • Sounds – background music, keyboard music, browser sounds
  • Graphics – static and animated wallpapers for dark and light mode, themes
  • Live Wallpapers – interactive wallpapers made with GameMaker

While submitting mods across all categories is not permitted, you’re free to submit as many mods into a single one as you’d like!

PRIZES

The winners of the 4 categories will receive $5,000 USD, while the creators of the four best Mods in each will receive a reward of $1,500 USD.

Additionally, users will vote for their picks from the Mods uploaded to the GX Mods Store, awarding winners from prize pools of $1,500 USD for each category
