In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to quickly add vignette effects in CapCut. Vignette effects simulate what can happen with camera lenses, darkening (or even lightening) the corners of a video frame, creating a sleek fade that brings viewer focus to the center. And they’re incredibly easy to add in CapCut.
“Lens vignetting is a reduction in brightness or saturation on the periphery of an image. It is the result of a number of factors, including the design of the lens, its focal length, and the aperture selected for shooting.” — DXO

How to quickly add vignette effects to CapCut videos

1. Launch the Adjust menu
With CapCut open, open a new or existing video project. A project is the workspace for a video edit. In a project, multimedia is grouped together. And inside a project is where you’ll find the edits and effects you need to create amazing styles.
With a project open, you’ll see your video previewed in the center of your screen. Just below it is the Timeline, where you can move through clips frame by frame. And at the bottom of the screen is the CapCut toolbar. Here, you’ll see a row of menu buttons and options. This is where edits and effects live in CapCut. Vignettes are among them.
Scroll across the toolbar until you find the Adjust button. Tap Adjust, and the Adjust menu will open. Here, you’ll find the option to add a vignette to any video.
2. Find and add vignette effects
Once you’ve opened the Adjust menu, find the Adjust tab. On it, individual effect categories are grouped under separate buttons. You’ll see Brightness, Contrast, Saturation, and more. To find vignette options, scroll to the right with your finger.
Near the end of the menu options, you’ll see Vignette. Tap on Vignette to launch it. When you do, a slider bar appears at the bottom of your CapCut screen.
3. Adjust and explore vignette effect options
It’s here that you can see the two very different options for vignette designs. What are they? Well, you can add both dark and light vignettes. In other words, you can darken or lighten the corners of your video.
Dark vignettes are the most popular design. To add them, move the slider from its centerpoint to the right. Watch what happens. The corners of your video get progressively darker, while the middle of your video stays bright.
For light vignettes, move the Vignette slider left of center. You’ll see the edges of your video dramatically lighten! As always in editing, there’s no right or wrong setting. Explore your options and decide what works best for your video.
Once you’ve added a vignette effect to a clip, you’re all set! Don’t forget: vignettes only apply to the individual video that you’re editing. If you want multiple vignette designs, repeat these same steps for any other videos that you have in your project.
