During the past 12 months, I've contracted for several companies, working with them to make their product easy to use and widely adopted by many developers. During this time, I focused on improving my engineering and technical writing skills. However, it's now time for my next adventure.
Hey, DEV Community! 👋
I am Opemipo Disu, a passionate Developer Relations Engineer with over four years of experience improving dev tools and building developer communities.
My journey in DevRel began when I became an IBM Champion in 2020. I witnessed many developers passionately advocating for their favorite IBM tools and contributing to their improvement. This experience sparked my deep interest in DevRel, leading to a seamless transition into becoming a DevRel Engineer.
My DevRel Journey
Over the past four years, I've worked with Fermyon, RudderStack, Agility CMS, Bunzz, and Entre. In these roles, I:
- Created numerous demos
- Collaborated with software engineers on product development
- Reviewed GitHub issues
- Built and nurtured developer communities
- Engaged with community members
- Hosted monthly meetings with the community members
- Gave talks at conferences and meetups about these products
- Created/improved documentation/how-to guides
- Written extensive articles
- Recorded many videos and live streams on various products
These activities are just a glimpse of my contributions.
I love seeing my work reach the top level, and I know there's much more I can achieve with my skills.
My DevRel Skills and Expertise
Engineering: I'm majorly focused on JavaScript/TypeScript. However, I'm great with React, Next, Gatsby, and other front-end tools. I'm open to learning new technologies, too :). I'm also experienced in working with engineering teams to improve products and solve complex technical issues.
Public Speaking: As mentioned earlier, I've delivered talks at conferences and meetups, sharing knowledge on things developers need to know about.
Content Creation: I've also authored tons of blog posts, tutorials, and documentation to help developers understand and use products effectively.
Community Building: Organized events and fostered a sense of belonging and collaboration among developers.
Engagement: Actively interacted with the developer community through various channels, including social media and live streams.
What I'm looking for 🤔
At the moment, I'm looking to join a company where my impact as a DevRel can be clearly visible. Also looking for a company where I can thrive; I thrive in dynamic teams and am particularly interested in companies that prioritize developer experience and community engagement.
By the way, I'm looking for a full-time DevRel role. I'd love to give my all in my next adventure.
