We are at the end of the year 2024 and there are numerous ways to learn to code and break into the tech industry. The internet has everything you need to learn anything you want. Universities, coding bootcamps, and paid courses are all great but they come at a cost. I believe everything can be learned for free and these resources will help you break into software engineering at no cost.

Free Code Camp

FreeCodeCamp is a non-profit organization that consists of an interactive learning web platform, an online community forum, chat rooms, online publications and local organizations that intend to make learning web development accessible to anyone.

YouTube

YouTube is very a good resource for programming tutorials. I have learned more on YouTube than I have at College. One of the quickest ways to pickup a programming language is to solve algorithms/data structure problems using it and building projects with it. YouTube can help you with both of these.

MDN

MDN Web Docs, previously Mozilla Developer Network and formerly Mozilla Developer Center, is a documentation repository for web developers used by Mozilla, Microsoft, Google, and Samsung. This website alone has all the information you need to become a semi-pro at developing websites and web applications.

Have A Plan In Place

These resources are extremely dense with information so it is good to know what career path you want to focus on. Front End, Back end, Or Full Stack software development.

If you made it this far then thank you for reading my first blog, I hope it helped you learn about some free resources that can land you a great job if utilized correctly.
