\ The #bitcoin Writing Contest, brought to you by Rootstock and HackerNoon, is your chance to shine if you're a thought leader, skilled writer, talented developer, or blockchain enthusiast! Share your insights on #bitcoin for a chance to win big from our $17,500 prize pool.
\ To help you get started, we’ve organized the contest’s writing prompts into three categories: Thought Leadership, Dev Stack & Tooling, and Tutorials. Each category offers a list of questionnaires designed to guide your entry. You can answer one set of questions for a solid submission, or mix and match across or within categories to create a unique entry.
\ Good Luck!
Thought Leadership
:::info Answer 1 set of questions in this category or mix & match to create a unique entry.
:::
1. Which emerging or long-standing Bitcoin topics (e.g., Runes, ordinals, layer 2 solutions, sidechains) do you find most intriguing, and why?
Sidechains and Layer 2 solutions are my most interesting topics.
\
- What challenges do you think the above technologies might face in gaining widespread adoption?
I think sidechains need to track interesting Bitcoin data that the mainchain will find too expensive. E.g. more details on lost coins, stolen coins, burned coins, timelocked coins, NFT-d coins (via ordinals), etc.
I find these haven’t received enough attention in a well-delineated taxonomy.
\
- How do you envision these technologies evolving in the next 5 years?
- What specific use cases do you see for these technologies outside of finance?
Sidechains are good for running Bitcoin DAOs without minting new tokens.
A DAO could be a non-profit e.g. for environmental awareness, community outreach, etc
\
- How does the broader Bitcoin community view these emerging topics?
- Are there any misconceptions you believe people have about these topics?
\
2. What is your forward-thinking perspective on the current and future state of the Bitcoin ecosystem?
- How do you think Bitcoin’s ecosystem compares to other cryptocurrencies?
- What role do you see Bitcoin playing in future global economic systems?
- What potential threats or challenges do you think Bitcoin might face as it evolves?
- How do you think Bitcoin’s environmental impact will change over time?
- What opportunities for innovation within the Bitcoin ecosystem excite you the most?
\
3. How do you believe Bitcoin is transforming or could further transform traditional finance systems?
- What are the key obstacles preventing Bitcoin from fully integrating into traditional financial systems?
- How do you see central banks and governments responding to Bitcoin’s growing role in finance?
- Are there specific industries or sectors that Bitcoin will transform more rapidly than others?
- How do you see the role of decentralized finance (DeFi) interacting with Bitcoin’s transformation of traditional finance?
- What are the main advantages Bitcoin offers over current financial infrastructure?
\
4. How have Satoshi Nakamoto’s writings influenced your thoughts on Bitcoin, and what personal meaning do they hold for you?
- Which specific writings or quotes from Satoshi stand out to you, and why?
- Do you think Satoshi’s original vision is still being upheld today?
- How do you interpret Satoshi’s views on decentralization and privacy in the context of modern Bitcoin development?
- Has your perspective on Bitcoin evolved after reading Satoshi’s writings, and if so, how?
- How do you think future generations will view Satoshi's contributions to the digital currency?
\
5. What is your analysis of Bitcoin's price trends, and how do you see it impacting inflation or broader economic factors?
- How do you think Bitcoin performs as a hedge against inflation compared to gold or other assets?
- What external factors (e.g., global economic trends, regulations) do you think most impact Bitcoin's price?
- How do you view the correlation between Bitcoin’s price and mainstream adoption rates?
- In your opinion, is Bitcoin more of a store of value or a speculative asset, and why?
- What long-term factors do you believe will contribute to Bitcoin’s price stability?
\

- Are there any specific libraries or frameworks you find essential when developing Bitcoin applications?
- How do you assess the ease of use and documentation of these tools for beginners?
- Which tools or stacks do you think will dominate Bitcoin development in the next 2-3 years?
- How do you manage the challenges of integrating these tools into existing workflows?
