Multi-tenancy is a software architecture where a single instance of a software application serves multiple customers, known as "tenants." Each tenant's data is isolated, ensuring privacy and security, but they share the same underlying infrastructure, resources, and application code. Suppose a cloud service provider offers database services to multiple companies. Instead of setting up a separate database instance for each company (tenant), they can use a single CDB with multiple PDBs. Each company's data is isolated within its PDB, but they all share the same underlying infrastructure, leading to cost savings and easier management.
