Announcing the R3 2021 release of our mocking framework, Telerik JustMock.
The R3 2021 release of our mocking framework, Telerik JustMock, includes new support for Linux, support for the new 64-bit version of Visual Studio 2022, support for .NET 6 RC1, enhanced notifications in the Debug Window and reworked Getting Started articles. Let’s look at the details.
Support for Linux
I am happy to announce that, after a summer full of challenges to overcome differences between the Windows and Linux versions of the CLR, JustMock officially now supports Linux. JustMock becoming cross-platform is a great milestone that will allow our customers to use their unit test suites not only for Windows.
Support for Visual Studio 2022
Microsoft decided to release this year a new version of Visual Studio. Visual Studio 2022 will be a 64-bit application and will no longer be limited to using memory in the main process devenv.exe. Microsoft promises that we will no longer run out of memory when working with big and complex solutions.
With such an opening statement for the long-awaited 64-bit version, JustMock had to support it as we wouldn’t want to be a bottleneck for you to take advantage of all the benefits of the latest version of VS.
Support for .NET 6 Release Candidate 1
Microsoft is working hard on .NET and already shipped the first release candidate of .NET 6. We’ve made a promise to support all new versions of .NET and are delivering on that promise. JustMock now supports .NET 6 RC1.
Enhanced Notifications in the DebugWindow
With R3 2021, we continue to improve the DebugWindow and add more features to it. Until now, while debugging your unit test, you could miss that a new invocation has occurred of your arrangement when the Argument Matcher tab is selected. Such an event is not wanted, as the solution is typically to restart the unit test, select the Invocations tab and wait for the invocation to occur.
With R3 2021, we’ve added visual notification to the Invocations tab. In addition to that, when you select the Invocations tab, all-new invocations will be highlighted and make it easier for you to notice them.
Reworked Getting Started Articles
We heard your voice from the JustMock product survey and began with the improvement of the documentation. The first on the radar was the Getting Started articles, as they are key to every newcomer understanding more clearly what the product does and how it can help users isolate unit tests from all dependencies. We will continue reworking and improving the rest of the documentation articles during the following releases, so stay tuned.
