A father and son have a car accident and are both badly hurt. They are both taken to separate hospitals. When the boy is taken in for an operation, the surgeon (doctor) says 'I can not do the surgery because this is my son'. How is this possible?

If you got the riddle right you are among the small minority of subjects (15 percent) who came up with this answer. The surgeon was his mother!

More number of prominent females in significant positions such as doctors, engineers, lawyers, and politicians would eliminate this bias. A successful woman leader becomes the face of such professions, so that when people imagine a professional, they also think of a woman.

Tech Industry is pre dominated by men. When someone thinks of a programmer, they think of a male wearing a black hoodie
and with a laptop. Why not a woman?

Programming is one of the most highest paid and very respectful jobs. All the richest men are somewhat related to tech. Eg: Bill Gates

I'm passionate about coding and programming, developing new apps, and teaching and coaching students. My goal is to work as hard as I can to erase this bias, and I want people to see to envision a woman as a coder.

I've always embraced big learning challenges, and I'm always eager to learn new things and expand my horizons.

See how I am encouraging more women into tech:

My Leadership Journey

Chapter Lead in The Girl Code West Bengal Region
Image description

I was also the chapter lead of West Bengal - Bihar regions having more than 8 chapter members under my supervision.

A 2020 study by the AnitaB.org Institute found that women make up 28.8% of the tech. This number is surprisingly low. I believe we need more representation in tech. To make this happen, I joined an NGO The Girl Code through which I have worked on making girls intersted in programming from middle school only.

I conduct free online workshops for girl students, collaborating with various schools. I have helped them make their first website. Many of the girls did not have laptops, so I designed the workshop in a manner that they could develop websites on their phone though a coding app.

Google Developer Students Club - IIEST Shibpur, Women In Tech Lead

I am the women in tech lead at Google Developer Student Club at my college. I was appointed on this position on the
basis of my contribution in encouraging more people to tech.

My job is to encourage females in participating in more coding related activities.

I started the first ever mentorship program exclusively for women in my college, where I made it easier for juniors to easily connect with seniors who shared same interest as them. This helped bridge the senior-junior bond that was very hard to make due to lockdown.

My Achievements in 2021 and 2022

  1. Breaking into the web3 world, by being selected as an ETHWMN fellow and best NFT Hack in Polygon's BUIDL IT Hackathon.
  2. Over 70k views on my dev.to posts in just 4 months with over 400 followers!
  3. Getting selected as Microsoft Engage Mentorship.

How I Overcame My Struggles

Image description

I am an example of a girl who was terrified of coding; had a panic attack during her first C language lab and through sheer determination, she turned her life around, received an internship offer from Microsoft, and is now devoting her time and energy to encouraging other girls to code.

I am confident that my experiences will inspire other young women to never give up. I recall being completely unaware of opportunities and consistently missing deadlines. I decided to change that by making an open source website which lists all the opportunities for engineering students. I have influenced the masses and made opportunities accessible to all. It has 350+ stars on GitHub and more than 500 newsletter subscribers. I established a service to fill the void in the market.

I am a community builder, learner, and initiator. Nevertheless, I coded.
