A month ago, I was a complete beginner. Terms like GitHub, open-source contributions, and pull requests felt intimidating. With only basic knowledge of HTML and CSS, I didn’t think I was "ready" to contribute. But one day, while scrolling through LinkedIn, I came across Hacktoberfest. I thought,
Why not? I have nothing to lose and a lot to learn.
That decision changed everything.
From selecting projects and raising issues to working with GitHub and submitting pull requests, each step was a new challenge. At first, it was difficult, but determination and the support from amazing seniors, project owners, and YouTube tutorials kept me going. I’m proud to say that I completed all four contributions, worked on two different projects, and added my profile to DevDisplay.

Hacktoberfest wasn’t just my introduction to open source—it was a confidence booster. This experience taught me to trust myself, learn continuously, and embrace challenges. I’m now actively contributing to GSSoC, and I owe this growth to the Hacktoberfest community.
To other beginners: Just take that first step. The community and learning resources will support you every step of the way. I’m excited to keep contributing and can’t wait to join Hacktoberfest again next year!
