Welcome Back! A Little Plug?
Welcome back, today with a post on Web Development mostly! But you can use your creative knowledge to extend it and be sure to leave it in the comments for others as well! Let's get into it!
Well, firstly it is going to be hosted on repl.it, so if you want to customize the domain, refer here. Anyways now on to the actual part. So I will be using this simple flask app to demostrate -
Ok so once you have your website/API written in repl.it, Run the code by using the Run button on the top of the screen,
once running you should see a new pane open on the right showing you website, copy the address of that from the address bar on top of the pane!
Now, we are going to go to another website known as UptimeRobot, this website is going to ping our website every 5 mins to keep the server running for ever. After visiting UptimeRobot, you need to sign up for an account. Once that is complete, Click on Create new Monitor. Once you have done that fill in the details as follows:
Monitor Type - HTTP(s)
Friendly Name - Anything of your wish
URL/IP - Address you copied from repl.it.
Monitoring Interval - every 5 minutes
Then click create new monitor and then click close. You should see a new monitor in your dashboard, and that's all actually! Now close the browser window and check if the website keeps running after an hour, do not open repl.it anymore within this one hour! If it is running after one hour, then, great it will keep running forever, if it doesn't however comment below, and I will try to help you!
