In the previous years it was common to hear that Python is more popular than PHP. However, many new programmers now feel that PHP rules and there is no need to learn Python anymore.
It depends on how you look at it. We can say that in 2011 PHP had a market share of 78% and Python 14%. In 2012 PHP's share decreased slightly to 77%, while in 2013 we can see a change of increasing popularity of Python with its share increasing by 4% from 14% in 2011 to 18%.
